Sugar Addiction Test

This is a post from my Facebook 21 Day No Junk Food Challenge:
(add me as your friend--Kathy Boatner-Haggard) I would love to add you to our group.

Good Morning!!
What's for breakfast today??? Here's mine: pink grapefruit, scrambled eggs, Applegate Turkey Bacon    YUM!!!  If you haven't tried this bacon---oh my goodness you do not know what you are missing!!! LOL

Just want to encourage you to keep going on your decision for you and your family to eat healthier. I assume that you are responsible for doing the grocery shopping just like me. In that case---you make the choices of what to buy for your family to eat. Have you ever been "determined" that you will not buy any junk food but find as soon as you get in the store the commercialism/marketing display grabs your eye and you seem pulled in by it's magnetism???? Learn to recognize it for what it is---exactly that---a ploy to get you to purchase their product.  Learn to shop on the outside perimeters of the store. Be aware though, marketers have caught on to the fact that people are shopping smarter and making better choices so they will purposely set a stand up of Little Debbie's or holiday items in those aisles to try to persuade you to buy. Once we recognize that it's a marketing ploy, then we can learn that you don't have to fall under it's powers.  People are moved by pretty displays---as simple as that may seem---it's the truth. Then we start feeling bad---well just because I have an addiction to sugar---doesn't mean that I should withhold it from my family! Yes it does! Even more so---because a lot of times these addictions are genetic. My grandmother and great grandmother didn't have large hips from eating vegetables!!!!!! Sugar can be detrimental to our health. Learn to recognize the signs of a problem early.
Take my sugar test to see just how addicted you are to sugar.
1) Do you eat more than 1 serving of sugar at a time? Add 10 pts.
2) Do you want more as soon as you finish the sweet that you are eating? Add 10 pts.
3) Do you immediately persecute yourself for eating it? Add 10 pts.
4) Do you hide your stash of sweets from your family?  Add 10 pts
5) Do you hide the wrappers???         Add 20 pts.
6) Do you hide and eat your sweet?   Add 20 pts.
7) Is your work hindered by thinking about something sweet continuously? Add 20 pts.

This is just a short list, but a very important list.  This is my own little test of  how addicted you are to sugar. It has no proven validity except from my own experience. If you would like to see how you rate on the test---Give yourself the points assigned for each one you answered yes.

0-10    Not addicted to sugar
20-30   Likes sugar but can easily turn it down
40-50   Loves sugar and has a hard time resisting it
60-70   Borderline Sugar Addict
80-90    Loves sugar--Cant make it through a day without it
90-100 Houston we definitely have sugar problems!!!

Notice the further down the list the more severe the addiction. I did that for a reason. When you are hiding what you are eating, or if it is interfering with your work you need to take immediate action.  How??? I'm proud you asked!

1) You need to ask God for help. Repeat this verse often throughout the day---I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me!
20+ Bible Verses to Battle And Overcome Food Addiction - One Thing Alone
2) You need a support group like this one or one that you actually meet face to face with someone.
3) Get a supplement that will help you to overcome the temptations. Of course I recommend the Plexus Triplex Combo. ( http://kathyhaggard.myplexusproducts.com )Stick to it religiously!!!

4) Get rid of any sugar products in your cabinets, refrigerator, freezer, panty drawers, LOL.... Wherever you may have hidden it!
5) Don't buy it!!! If you see that you can't control the urge to buy---then gladly hand off the shopping list to your husband. Tell him to stick to the list. (Don't hand it to him if he also has a sugar addiction though! Pay a teenager to do your shopping for you.)
6) View it as a drug----Yes you heard me! I know that sugar is not a drug, but you are slowly killing yourself. Addiction can destroy not only your body, but your mind which in turn can destroy your relationship with others.

7) Just say NO!!  You are a strong person. You can overcome the desires to eat sweets. In time,  your body will thank you and so will your family!!!

I hope you have gotten something from this today. Remember this is not just a challenge---it's a support group! I welcome your responses.  Sometimes talking it out--can help you to recognize the behaviors that are causing problems.

Oh and just so you know--I scored a 100 on this test. My husband scored 0!!!  (100 being a failing score and 0 being a passing score!)

Oh and one more thing---I've learned through this challenge that if I start off my day with my pink drink and vitamins then eat a healthy sugar free breakfast that I have more control of the rest of the day. You can do this!! I believe in you! I'm your biggest fan!!! Contact me anytime at 256-630-1849. If you feel an urge to eat sugar---text or call. You won't bother me at all!!!

Oh and just one more thing---for real this time! lol  Yesterday I did my grocery shopping after church and as always I dropped by the Dollar General to get my paper products and cleaners. Well I slipped and bought a bag of chocolate covered strawberry Valentines candy.  I just let my husband read this and showed him the bag of candy that I had put in the cabinet. He looked at me like I was crazy. I asked him to take it with him to work. He said he didn't want it. I told him to give it to his co-workers. He said No-----throw it away! I said----throw it away???? Are you crazy??? He  said Throw it away---I looked at the bag and remembered my own test---and threw it just on the top part of the garbage. (Thinking I may get it back out!! Really---did I just think that???) Do you see what I mean about addiction????    So I did take it back out and threw it as hard at the trash can as I possibly could! LOL  Then even stuck my hand into the trash can to make sure that I buried it under stuff no one should touch!!! LOL  Ok--------does anyone see the connection??? Mark immediately said---sounds like you're addicted---just like I was to cigarettes!!!!!!!!!!!   There's the connection---------addiction is anything that causes you to lose focus on what God has in store for your life!!! Sugar is mine!!!!!!!!! But GOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I urge you to purge today!!! If you just can't stand the thought of throwing it away because of the money issue---I understand that ---go right now and bag it all up and give it to someone who doesn't have an addiction.

Sorry I love to write!!! It's therapeutic for me and it helps me to learn more about myself!
